The Director of Project Management is the viewed as the central hub on an account, supervising the workflow of multiple disciplines with responsibility for program process and delivery success within the account. This is a client facing role that engages with client counterparts and account leadership to ensure delivery and objectives are met.
Extensive pharmaceutical agency, client, or consulting experience and varied experience with digital marketing products, traditional products including broadcast, as well as best-practices, are critical aspects of this role. Qualified applicants will also be seasoned team leaders and be able to train, oversee and nurture team members as well as provide guidance across the account for digital engagements.
The Director of Project Management is involved with the macro-level view of finances/burn rate of a client engagement, and liaise with Account Management to monitor and track efficiency in operations and profitability.
The Director of Project Management may work across multiple client engagements, project manage specific projects of their own, and backfill for other team members as necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Drive/Monitor the execution of the client “portfolio”
- Responsible for supporting the agency and defining/executing project management strategy and working with discipline leads and project managers to execute on plans
- Monitor day-to-day activities of the project team and ensure work is progressing as planned. Work with project team and actively be involved in the work
- Lead, manage and mentor the project manager(s) with the team (10 + person team)
- Manage schedules, budgets, and execution against scopes, managing overall project organization to ensure requirements and project deliverables dates are clearly communicated, understood and executed
- Working with Account Management and Client Finance, is responsible for oversight of financial progress and tracking of the program/portfolio across budget commitments, including agency fees and out of pocket costs
- Provide oversight and support for producers for vendor solicitation and operational and financial management
- Ability to work across several projects with one or more producer(s) or as the primary producer on programs also fills in gaps for project work and/or when a producer is out of office
- Effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize all deliverables and resources across one or more client portfolios based on scope of work and project goals
- Actively monitor project risks and scope creep to foresee/identify potential problems and proactively identify solutions to Account Management and Director of Operations
- Communicate and document project status and strategic recommendations to clients, team members and senior management on a regular basis; escalate issues accordingly via the appropriate channels
- Proactively identify opportunities and deliver improvements; supports the evolution and training of project management methodology and processes
- Partners with project team leads to present work as well as participate in new business presentation opportunities
- Lead the training/mentoring of team members on project management methodologies and best practices as required
- Leads the Annual Scope development and monthly forecasting alongside the Account Management lead with the support of project managers and other account management team members
- Cross project support of producers specifically around the areas of schedule, budget, and resource management
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree and at least 5-8+ years of experience interactive project management and/or related fields
- Pharmaceutical experience in an agency or client side is required
- Deep understanding of traditional products including print, collateral and broadcast as well as the interactive field (web, email, banners, mobile)
- Understanding of current and emergent technologies and best practices
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to motivate, support and understand different project teams
- Deep understanding and awareness of product development and experience tying product goals to business goals
- Strong attention to detail and focus on task completion is critical
- Experience with the development of large-scale websites and a strong understanding of associated web development technologies and third party applications and platforms is essential
- Mobile, social media/community, and application development experience highly desirable
- Ability to effectively support and facilitate project conversation across varied departments and personalities a must
- Competencies in MS Office, MS Project, bug tracking, and other related project management and common communications tools is required
- PMP and other project management certifications are desirable, as are exposure to varied methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) a big plus
- Travel for onsite client meetings will be required
